EDWARDSVILLE, ILLINOIS Dec. 6, 2011 — Mark D. Rabe announced today that he has filed for election to the Third Judicial Circuit Court vacancy of Judge Charles V. Romani, Jr. Rabe will appear on the Republican ballot in the March 20, 2012 primary.
Rabe is a 1986 graduate of Harvard Law School. He attended the University of Illinois from 1974 to 1977, and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1983 with a degree in History.
Rabe began his legal career in 1986 at then Bryan Cave, McPheeters and McRoberts (now Bryan Cave) in St. Louis Missouri. While there, he participated in many aspects of corporate law, including forming corporations and partnerships, drafting and filing initial public offerings, and participating in other corporate transactions. He also gained significant litigation experience in government contracts law, white collar criminal defense work, and tort defense litigation. In 1991, Rabe moved to then Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now SNR Denton). He continued his work in government contract law and litigation, including serving as Discovery Officer in the largest case ever filed in the U. S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington DC. In 1995, Rabe moved to an in-house counsel position at McDonnell Douglas Corporation, which has since been acquired by The Boeing Company. At McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, Rabe has provided professional advice on many aspects of his employer’s business, including contract formation, dispute resolution, internal investigations and regulatory compliance. He has also managed, as in-house counsel, numerous litigation matters in lawsuits filed across the United States and internationally. Finally, Rabe has participated as an executive member of several leadership teams for various segments of Boeing’s businesses.
Rabe also spent five years as a member of the United Mine Workers of America while employed at Consolidation Coal Corporation’s Burning Star #4 mine from 1978-1983.
Rabe’s campaign will focus on how his broad experience in many aspects of the law will help bring the unbiased rule of law into sharper focus. If elected, fairness and evenhanded treatment of all who appear before him will serve to enhance the public’s trust in the judicial system, and provide the best opportunity for community growth.
Rabe has been married to Cynthia (Collins) Rabe for 31 years, and has two daughters, Diane Rabe, a resident of the Seattle Washington area, and Janice Rabe, a student at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois. Rabe was born in Steeleville Illinois, in Randolph County, and has been a resident of Madison County (in Collinsville and Edwardsville) for 22 of the last 25 years.
